LCD-TV Phillips PFL 9603 D

Recently I bought the highly recommended FullHD LCD-TV Philips 37PFL9603D mainly for presentation purposes.

Unfortunately I discovered that the VGA-Interface only supports 1024x768. This limiting fact is not mentioned anywhere in the documentation.

I'll try to check the YUV-Interface but am not sure wether my notebook will support VGA-YUV-Cable.

On the other hand the PFL 9603 D is a DLNA certified media player / renderer and is able to show images and play audio and video files.

Images

JPEG files are presented very well. The Exif information is used to turn portrait format pictures. However there is no upscaling functionality for images. This means low resolution images are shown very small in the center of the screen.

Max supported resolution is 1920x1080.

Audio

All my mp3 files could be streamed and the sound is great.

Video

Only view formats are supported. Up to now I could only confirm that MPEG2 encoded video files could be played. (No surprise as this is mandatory required by DLNA). But all AVI-Formats (DivX, XVid, etc.) are not supported.

Currently I utilize mencoder to re-encode video files to MPEG2.
